The Cheese strain is reportedly a phenotype of Skunk #1, a strain created by Sam “The Skunkman,” who brought it over from California to the Netherlands. From there, the Indica-dominant Cheese was bred and given notoriety in the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. Given the name “Cheese” as a signifier of its strong, cheddar-like flavour and aroma, the clone-only female is reported to have been crossed with Indica strains by several underground UK breeders for the proliferation of Cheese seeds.

Named for its sharply sour aroma, Cheese is an Indica-dominant hybrid from the U.K. that has achieved widespread popularity for its unique flavour and consistent potency.

Place of origin:

California

Growing Information:

Cheese is reported to grow tall, producing high yields over the span of a 56-70 day flowering period. Easy to grow both in- and outdoors, Cheese is a strain also resistant to mould, mildew, and pests. Big Buddha Seeds’ Cheese strain, which is crossed with a pure-bred Afghani strain, won 1st Place in the Indica category at the 2006 High Times Cannabis Cup.
